Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
William Stead
February 11th, 1959 - January 15th, 2021
After a valiant effort of battling cancer for over a year, our hero, Bill, passed away at home at age 61. Bill was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend, and co-worker. He was born in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help grade school, Cardinal O'Hara High School, and Penn State. Bill married Margaret in 1980 and the family moved from the Philadelphia area to the Tampa Bay area in 1985 to enjoy the Florida sunshine and raise the family. Bill and Margaret attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice and Bill worked at PwC for his entire career. Bill is survived by his wife Margaret, four adult sons William, Robert, David, and Michael all who reside in Florida. He is also survived by his mother Joan (FL), and his two brothers James and Robert and wife Elaine, two nieces Lauren and Jessi and nephew Christian (all in PA). Bill was preceded in death by his father, William. Bill was an organizer and leader at an early age. From neighborhood teams that competed against other neighborhoods, to hockey teams that formed regional alliances that grew to compete on a national level. He integrated his ""everyone plays"" coaching philosophy into every aspect of his personal and professional life. Bill was the ultimate family man and led by example. This was reflected as oldest brother, loving husband to the wife he adored, his four sons, and the rest of his extended family, at home and PwC. For 33 years Bill worked at PwC and retired in 2019. Bill was more than a colleague, he was a friend, a leader, a mentor, and trusted advisor. He had a heart for our military and was recognized and received an award as a Patriotic Employer by the Office of the Secretary of Defense for support of the National Guard and Reserve Force. His PwC roles spanned Office Services, Procurement, Finance, Real Estate, Administrative Services and was on National teams. Prior to retirement, Bill led a group of 500+ admin staff, most of who he personally hired. Bill was respected and loved by many. It is impossible to put into one short paragraph the lives Bill touched during his life with family, friends and co-workers. Bill and Margaret captured every free moment possible to travel the world with Bill planning and coordinating every trip to the Nth detail. Bill and Margaret and the family had a wonderful and fulfilled life. The family will have a small private funeral and a celebration of life in the spring. In lieu of flowers or gifts we would appreciate prayers, mass cards, or donations in Bill's name to MDAnderson Cancer Center Houston at https://gifts.mdanderson.org For donation questions contact Margaret at [email protected].
