Beatrice E. Ryan

Beatrice H. Ryan of Venice, Florida who resided in Shelton, CT for 60 years prior, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Monday, December 21, 2020 with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife to her loving husband George J. Ryan of 74 ½ years. Other survivors that will miss her immensely are her two daughters Pamala O'Brien (husband Paul) and Kimberly Caro (husband Ron). Along with 5 grandchildren Timothy O'Brien (Niki), Kevin O'Brien (Teresa), Luke O'Brien (Kaitlin), Joy O'Brien, Ryan McCoy (Janelle). Also surviving are 8 beautiful great grandchildren Ashlynn, Cash, Caedmon, Stephan, Rakiyah, Liam, Gavin, and Nolan. Beatrice was born in Shelton, CT where she was raised by her parents Edwin and Jennie Stevens. She was pre-deceased by her beautiful daughter Patricia Ryan, sisters Ethel Noel and Phyllis Farrell, brothers Lloyd, Wilfred, Clifford, Hanford, and Richard Stevens. Beatrice was the youngest of eight siblings. Beatrice was a graduate of Shelton High School where she met her husband George. She was a cheerleader, and he was a football player. She worked as a secretary at Lerner's Knitwear of Shelton and later at Better Packages in Shelton. She also worked at Fairfield University. After they married, she was assistant treasurer of Curtiss Ryan Lincoln Mercury Honda. She volunteered at Booth Hill School as a CCD teacher. Also volunteered at Bridgeport Mental Health, Shelton Lakes and Griffin Hospital for 10 years. She and her husband George raised their family in Fairfield on Lake Hills. They were one of the first to be members of the Lake Hills association. She was also on the Lake Hills bowling league. So many wonderful memories of her watching her children grow up on the lake swimming and ice-skating. Beatrice was extremely active. She loved to dance. She performed with a line-dance group and entertained at convalescent homes. She later became a ball room dancer along with her husband George after many lessons and both were very good at it. She also loved to travel. Their business granted the opportunity to travel many places around the world. She always felt so blessed to be able to do that and could not wait to share all the photos when they returned. She also loved to play golf. She and her husband George played golf and traveled well into their upper 80s. They were both still dancing into their 90s. An inspiration to us all. Beatrice and her husband George sponsor the ""family scholarship fund"" for the valley foundation in CT. She was a member of the Shelton, CT senior center, the Venice, FL Friendship Center, and the Elks Club. She was a devoted Catholic and attended Saint Lawrence Church in Shelton, CT and the Epiphany Catholic Church in Venice, FL. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a beautiful lady in every sense of the word. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. A visitation will be held for Beatrice on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with a service beginning at 2:00 pm at the Farley Funeral Home located at 265 South Nokomis Avenue, Venice, Florida 34285. Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, 10:00 am at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
