Patricia Ann "Patty Ann" Royal

With profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Patricia Ann Royal (Brodt), ""Patty Ann"", on October 24, 2020. Our loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Colleague and Friend to all whose lives she touched. She was a young 77 years old living at IslandWalk, West Villages, Venice, Florida. She had lived in Pittsburgh, Miami and Atlanta. A memorial service for Pat will be held on Saturday, November 7th at 11:00am at the Event Center in IslandWalk: 19211 Tantino Drive, Venice, Florida 34293. The memorial service is being coordinated by Farley Funeral Home in Venice. Please call the funeral home (941) 488-2291 to RSVP. A list of guest names is necessary to gain entrance to the Community. Mom was born in Pittsburgh and moved with her family to Miami (Hialeah) when she was a young girl. She graduated from Hialeah High School with many close friends. Soon after school she married Marvin Royal and they had a son, Marvin ""Guy"" Royal. A few years later she started working at Florida Power & Light, where she continued for many years and developed lifelong friendships. In the early 1980's she moved to Atlanta and began working for Georgia Trane. Over her 21 years with Trane and through much perseverance and dedication, she worked her way from a very challenging role as a Sales Assistant, supporting technical sales engineers, to sitting on the Board of Directors overseeing customer service and the administrative personnel. Throughout her time there she strived for fairness for all employees (especially women), business ethics, and a family-oriented workplace environment. She again gained lifelong friendships with those of the Georgia Trane family. Mom retired in 2006 and moved to IslandWalk to live near her sister Jean and brother Skip. Patricia is predeceased by her Parents, Vernon and Ida Brodt and her former husband Marvin Royal. She is survived by her son Guy (Marie), her grandsons Noah and Joshua (Rick and Lexi), her sisters Jean Chmela and Bonnie Brill, and her brother, Vernon ""Skip"" Brodt. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. As a Mother and Grandmother, she was the glue that kept the family organized, motivated and enjoying life together despite our physical distance. Mom pushed us to be the best we could be, to take care of others and strive for as much as we could in in life. She will be terribly missed, loved and forever remembered in our hearts!!
