Thomas J. (Tom) McCann, of Venice, Florida passed away peacefully at home on April 6, 2020 with his wife by his side after fighting a 5-year battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born in Endicott, NY on November 4, 1946. Tom attended Vestal Senior High School in Vestal, NY and graduated in 1965. He later attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA graduating with a BS in Accounting in 1975. Tom will be missed by all who knew him as being an avid sports enthusiast and supporting his children through their sports careers. He had a quirky sense of humor and his grandchildren loved singing the silly songs he made up. Surviving are his wife, Karen (Cooney) McCann who he married on March 17, 1972; his children, Meghan (Oliver) Spaeth, Matthew McCann, Sarah Holland; his grandchildren, Anika and Landon Spaeth, Easton McCann, Alexis and Emily Holland. Tom is also survived by his mother, Grace (Larry) Knickerbocker, a brother Brent Brooks and a sister, Kimberly Musgrove. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Theodore; his brothers, Donald and Kenneth Theodore; a sister, Donna Scambulori and his grandparents, George and Bertha McCann. There will be no service and the family will share a celebration of life at a future date. Memorials may be made to Parkinson's Place in Sarasota, Florida, Tidewell Hospice, Inc in Venice, Florida, Shriners Hospital for Children in Erie, PA or to St. Jude's Hospital for Children.
