Venice – Joann Morell Alfredo passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 12, 2020, at the age of 82 in Venice, Florida. She was born October 29, 1937 in Bronxville, New York to Thomas and Josephine Morell. She was the beloved wife of her late husband, Joseph Albert Alfredo for 61 years. She attended Marymount College of Virginia and graduated from Finch College (’58) majoring in Art History. Joann served many organizations with her charitable efforts, including, School of the Holy Child, Boys Town of Italy, Greenwich Hospital and St. Vincent’s Hospital; where for over ten years she turned her home into a Christmas boutique in efforts to raise money for the hospital. She received the St. Vincent’s “Woman of The Year” award in 2004 for her lasting impact. She was chairman of the Westchester Country Club Children’s Committee, Women’s Guild, and MC’d the Lady’s Luncheon Fashion Show for many years. She will be remembered as an elegant, selfless and caring woman, who always put the well-being of others in front of her own. She was an animal whisperer who in later years, looked forward to spending her mornings feeding the birds that gathered outside her home. Joann built strong friendships from school, and through her memberships to the Westchester Country Club of fifty years, and the Boca Raton Resort and Club. She is survived by her six children: Albert (Janet), Joann Hlywa (Andy), Joseph (Roberta), James (Eileen), Marc, and Gregory. Deeply Adored Grandchildren, Jaclyn and Kathryn Hlywa; Alyssa, Joseph, and Amelia Alfredo. Sister of Dr. Thomas Morell, and Patricia Assatly. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Venice, FL at 10:00 AM EST on Thursday, January 16th 2020.
