John E. "JP" Pilkington
February 15th, 1944 - November 20th, 2019
John E. ""JP"" Pilkington, age 75, of North Port, FL passed away on November 20, 2019. He was born in Attleboro, MA to William and Lillian Pilkington on February 15, 1944 and came to North Port from Sandwich, MA 8 years ago. John retired after 29 years as a Sergeant with the Massachusetts State Police. He was a founding member of 55 Team and CPAC Unit. John served as president of Prestige Property Services. He was a member of the Elks, Moose and AMVETS. He coached Bourne Little League and was president of Bourne Youth Hockey and Bourne Recreation Authority. He loved Boston sports, was an avid gardener and craftsman, and a passionate tuna fisherman. Surviving family members include his wife of 26 years, Rose A. Leaman Pilkington; son Matthew; 2 stepsons and 3 stepdaughters; and several nieces and nephews. He was also ""papa"" to 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Long Pilkington and a son, John, Jr. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
