William Newland

William R. ""Bill"" Newland Born in Manville, NJ Bill Newland passed away at Tidewell Hospice Care in Venice, Fl. at the age of 80 on March 7th. A life-long resident of Hillsborugh, NJ, Bill and his wife of 47 years, Ann, became snowbirds in 2014. They spent part of the year in Little Egg Harbor, NJ and part in Venice, Fl, owning homes on and near the water at these locations. Bill graduated from Somerville High School in 1956 and worked at the Johns Manville Corp. for several years. He later became an owner/operator of his own trucking company. He was a US Army veteran who was stationed in Korea and will be honored with a military tribute on March 28th. Bill enjoyed the outdoors spending countless hours fishing, hunting and camping. There was no place he wouldn't take his motorhome. Mr. Newland was predeceased by his parents, William E. & Irene Newland, his brother, Robert Newland and his sister, Geraldine Taylor, all residents of Hillsborough. He is survived by his wife Ann of Venice, FL, his daughters Annmarie Kennedy, Debra Newland Lewis, Holly Hodges, step-daughter Kathy McLernon, grandchildren; Troy Dallas Kennedy, David & Joshua Lewis, Ryan & Sean Healy and four great grandchildren and his siblings; Judy Ballotta, Lorraine Reed and Alan Newland. His family can take peace in knowing Bill is back on the water with his father and brother chasing gulls and bait balls across the Raritan Bay as they reel lunker blues back to the boat. A memorial service is planned on March 28th at Our Lady of Lourdes, 1301 Center Road, Venice, FL and a memorial service will be held early this summer in NJ.
