Elizabeth A. ""Betty"" Lins, resident of Venice, Florida, formerly of Pittsburgh and Butler, PA, passed away on October 15, 2018, with her family by her side, in the Hospice House at The Plantation in Venice, Florida. She was 91 years old. Betty was born on June 11, 1927 in Sheridan, PA. She graduated from Langley High School. From the age of 8, she had an eye out for a little boy in her neighborhood, Howard Michael Lins. She knew he was the one for her. On June 7, 1947, she married that love of her life. Howard and Betty raised three daughters. There was nothing more important to her than taking care of her family, enjoying life and entertaining the many friends she and Howard shared. She loved music. She played the organ, church bells, sang in many church choirs, and sang in the Sweet Adeline's Barber Shop Chorus. In 1972, she and Howard founded Lins Elevator Service Inc. of Pittsburgh, PA. Together they grew their company where she managed their office with meticulous style. Howard and Betty retired in 1990 and moved permanently to The Plantation, a beautiful golf community in Venice, Florida. Betty and Howard were members of several Lutheran churches over the years, last of all, Emanuel Lutheran Church of Venice. They loved their church. Betty began serving the church as a church secretary and director of the children's choir. Through out her life she was a member of both chancel and bell choirs. Indeed, her faith was very important to her. Everyone Betty met, as time passed by, would always say the exact same thing about her. She was ""sweet"". She always had a sweet smile, only kind words to offer, and a caring, gracious spirit toward all who knew her. Our ""Howie"" will sadly miss his beloved best friend, ""Betsy"", his wife of 71 years. Together they have served as a model of love and devotion for us all. She will be sadly missed by her three daughters: Nancy Riggle (Greg), Judy Barno (Charlie), and Sue Charles (Tom). They will always know they were loved beyond measure by their precious mom. To her 4 grandchildren, she was lovingly known as ""Nana"". As they grew into their adult years they adored her sweetness and thoughtfulness and visited every chance they could. They will miss their Nana so much. Finally, her 3 great granddaughters will know of their Nana as they grow up, as will her baby great grandson who is on the way. She was something special. In memory of Elizabeth A. Lins, donations may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 790 South Tamiami Trail, Venice Florida 34285 or Tidewell Hospice House of Venice, 210 Wexford Blvd., Venice, Florida 34293.
