Zenon Shpon of Warm Mineral Springs in North Port, Florida passed into God's Eternal Kingdom on Friday, August 17, 2018. He was born on January 5, 1934 in Przemyszl, Ukraine (now Poland). He emigrated to America with his parents in 1951 and settled in New York city. Zenon graduated from City College of New York with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He spent more than 27 years, most of his engineering career, with General Electric in Philadelphia, PA, Binghamton, NY, and retired from Erie, PA in 1994. His hobbies and passions included soccer, tennis and table tennis, chess and duplicate bridge, for which he earned numerous awards and recognition. Zenon is survived by his devoted wife of almost 50 years, Larissa Chajkowsky Shpon; two loving daughters, Areta, with husband Eric, and Renata, with husband Michael; four grandchildren, Daniel, Natalie, Ian and Alexander; two sisters-in-law, Christine and Vera, and multiple nieces and nephews. Visitation is 10 - 11 AM, followed by a Panachyda on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Farley Funeral Home in North Port. The funeral will proceed to a Requiem Liturgy at 11:30 AM at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 7890 W. Price Blvd, North Port, FL. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Jenkintown, PA.
