Doris Joan Brady, age 92, a long-term resident of New Fairfield, Connecticut, died peacefully in Venice Florida on March 2nd surrounded by family members to whom she had given so much throughout her life. Doris (nee Anderson) was born on March 9, 1925 in Bay Ridge Brooklyn to her parents Albert and Alice Anderson (nee Shrubb). One of 5 children, Doris is survived by her older, sister, Evelyn, a long-term resident of Venice Florida, with whom Doris has enjoyed a very close and loving relationship throughout her life. Doris is also survived by her three children and their spouses: daughter Janet Greve of Venice Florida, her son, Edward Brady of Danbury Connecticut and her daughter Karen Schaum of New Fairfield Connecticut. Doris will be missed greatly by all her family including her 5 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren all of whom were able to visit with her during her final days. Before moving to New Fairfield in 1992, Doris spent nearly her entire life living in New York City and working in Manhattan. It was in Manhattan that she met her future husband, Edward Brady, known to all as ""Ed"". Ed, a World War II Navy Veteran, a strong, dynamic man, was the love of her life. Together Ed and Doris raised their family in New York City which was where their daughters met their spouses, both named Gary, and their son met his former spouse Betty. Doris remained a New Yorker and continued working in Manhattan as an Executive Hostess for a large bank until Ed passed away in 1992. In 1992 Doris moved to New Fairfield to live with Karen's family. Doris was especially close to Karen's children, Michaella and Taylor Schaum, as they went through New Fairfield schools. That said, Doris had a profound influence on all her grandchildren nurturing Edward Brady, Marissa Lowthert and Erica Greve with the best French toast along with stories that reflected her beliefs, strong morals, work ethic, unconditional acceptance and generosity to all. Within her family, Doris is loved and will be forever remembered as a very loving and giving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. If Doris had what some call a hobby, it would be her family. Doris could never do too much for those she loved and set a wonderful example for all as a kind, considerate, caring and thoughtful parent and family matriarch. Through her actions and behavior, Doris taught her family compassion, courtesy and the art of etiquette with friends and strangers. She will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to come to know her. A lifelong, devoted Catholic, and a Member of Saint Edwards Church in New Fairfield, there will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Doris at our Lady of Lourdes Church in Venice at noon on Monday March 5th. There will be a second service for Doris at 12:30 Saturday, March 10th at Saint Edwards, New Fairfield, CT. Following the services, Doris will be moved to New York, where she will be buried with her Husband Edward at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
