Gary Dennis Sanford, of North Port, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 in Port Charlotte, FL. Gary was born on July 5, 1951 in Derby, Connecticut to Evelyn and William Sanford. He dedicated 30 years of service to UPS, and shop steward for the Teamsters. Gary was married for 30 years to Janet Hubbell, until her death in 2003. On the eve of Thanksgiving, 2004, he met Robin Lane (Rhoades), and married into her family in 2014. Gary is survived by his wife Robin, Daughter Leslie, Leslie's children Austin Tyler Rhoades and Kylie Jewell Buchanan; Son Gary (wife Morgan), Their children Uriah Ira Rhoades and Abigail Lucille Lane Rhoades; Brother in Law Richard, Sister in law Mary, and Niece Pam, and was proceeded in death by his sister Linda Zulk. A Gathering of Friends will take place at Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory, North Port Chapel, 5900 Biscayne Drive North Port on Thursday August 10th from 2pm to 6pm. Family request that in lieu of flowers please send any donations to the Police Benevolent Association.
