Eileen T. Abbott

Eileen Theresa Abbott died May 28, 2017 at Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, FL. She was born in Pittsfield, MA Sep. 22, 1937. She grew up in Pittsfield where she graduated from St. Joseph High School. She graduated from Wilfred Academy of Hair & Beauty Culture in Boston and worked as a hairdresser until she married Vaughan Abbott July 13, 1963. She moved to New York City where she worked as a cosmetologist until moving to Vernon, CT. There she started a family and moved shortly thereafter to E. Hartland, CT where she resided for over thirty years. She was active in the Women's Club and was a member of St. Therese Church in Granby, CT. She was employed at Winsted Memorial Hospital, Winsted, CT as the switchboard operator. She also worked as the switchboard operator at Westminster School, Simsbury, CT and Noble Hospital, Westfield, MA. In 2005 she moved to Venice, FL where she was active in her community of Waterside Village and a member of the Social Committee. She was a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast. She was a member of Unity Church of Venice and also attended Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Eileen is survived by her husband Vaughan Abbott of Venice, FL; daughters Sharon Donnelly and husband Bob of Appleton WI, Lynn Stutzriemer and husband Mario of Alpharetta, GA; grandchildren Allison Donnelly, Rob Donnelly, Anna Stutzriemer, and Emily Stutzriemer; a sister Nancy Mackson and husband Don of Naples, FL; a sister-in-law Polly McMurtry and husband Ken of Moretown, VT; cousins Raymond Lynch of E. Longmeadow, MA; Patricia Milligan of Appley Bridge, England; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John and Esther (Lynch) Keegan and a brother Daniel Keegan. A service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday July 8, 2017 at the Farley Funeral Home, 265 S. Nokomis Ave, Venice, FL. The service is to be followed by a reception at the Waterside Village Club House.
