Alan Dexter Henry, age 77, of Venice, FL, was born January 13, 1939 in Alexandria, VA. He passed away on August 11, 2016 in Venice Florida. Alan attended Washington Lee High School in Arlington Virginia, and was a stand-out athlete, probably the best that the school has seen. He was well known for boxing in the Golden Gloves against Bobby Foster. Alan also attended American University in Washington D.C. He was a steamfitter with Local #602 and was elected as an Examiner and to their Executive Board before retiring at age 60. Alan was loveable and well loved, and will be missed by his many friends. Alan was married for 55 years to Marie, of Venice. He was also survived by four children, Kimberley Diguardo of Staunton, VA, Robin Wivell of Smithsburg, MD, Jill Dunbar of Fredericksburg, VA , and Michael D. Henry of Stephens City, VA; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. No services are planned at this time. Please make memorial donations to Tidewell Hospice in Venice. Farley Funeral Home, Venice, is in charge of arrangements.
