Robert "Bud" Shea
May 4th, 1933 - July 4th, 2016
Francis Robert Shea (""Bud""), 83, of Venice, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 4, 2016 after a long illness. Bud was born in Albany, NY on May 4, 1933 to Francis Xavier Shea and Anne Riedy Shea. A long-time resident of the Albany, NY area, Bud was a graduate of Vincentian Institute in 1951 and Siena College in 1956. He served in the United States Army from 1956-1958 and was an employee of Albany County and retired from the Department of Aging in 1991. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Josephine Alfano Shea of Venice, FL; brother Fr. Thomas Shea, CSC, of Cocoa Beach, FL; children Colleen Shea (Ken Ensdorf) of Brighton, MA, Timothy Shea (Julie Shea) of Austin, TX, and Patrick Shea of Denver, CO; grandchildren Jack, Patrick, and Kathleen Shea, and Hanley and Gretchen Ensdorf; brother-in-law Charles Alfano; sister-in-law Mary Jean Alfano; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Bud was a devoted and life-long fan of the New York Yankees and Siena Saints basketball. The family is eternally grateful to the nurses, aides, and staff at Harbor Chase nursing home and Tidewell Hospice of Venice FL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Tidewell Hospice (http://tidewellhospice.org/welcome/donors/donate-now). A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, FL with the deceased's brother, Fr. Tom Shea, officiating. Service Information Date: Monday, July 11, 2016 Time: 10:00 am
