Constance Donoghue passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 19th, joining her beloved husband Leo who passed in 1984. Connie is survived by her sister Marion, 8 beloved children, Beth, Lee Jr and wife Deborah, Connie Snyder, Jack and wife Paula, Kathy, Robert and wife Sharon, Matthew and wife Karen, and Patrick; her precious 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and cherished nieces and nephew. Connie was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, in the shadow of Yankee Stadium where she spent countless hours watching the game she loved so much. She shared her love of baseball with her family, never missing a chance to watch her sons or grandsons in a little league or Venice High game, or enjoying a Braves or Ray's game with ""her boys"". After graduating, Connie worked as a switchboard operator in a federal building in New York City where she met the love of her life and husband Leo. After retiring, Leo and Connie moved to Venice in 1972. A woman of incredibly strong faith in God and devout Catholic, Connie shared her faith with her family throughout her life. Her unwavering faith in God was a joy and constant source of strength and support throughout her life. Her wisdom and advice provided a moral compass to her family that reflected God's path in life. Most of all, Connie loved her family. Always the most loving and devoted Mother, Wife, Grandmother and great Grandmother she was fiercely protective of her family, always there to support them. She never missed a dance recital, little league baseball game; Boy Scout awards ceremony, graduation, or wedding, and always gave her encouragement and unconditional love to all. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, May 24 at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, May 25 at Epiphany Cathedral with a Graveside Service immediately following at Venice Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pines of Sarasota.
