Plus 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. During WWII he served in the Army as an intelligence officer with the rank of Capitan. He saw combat in New Guinea the Philippines and Okinawa. When hostilities ceased he was assigned to MacArthur’s staff in Japan as part of the 6’2″ group and was charged with locating and securing Japanese war criminals. Upon returning to the states he entered law school at St. John’s University in NYC. After graduation he began a legal career which lead him to being recognized as a top litigator. John and Edith began their family in the town of Pelham N.Y. where they attended St Catherine’s Church. John was an usher at the church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Pelham volunteer fire department. John was elected to the position of Fire Commissioner which he held for many years. During the fall he would go with his trusty dog and hunt pheasant and grouse. In 1976, John and Edith moved part time to Walton NY having bought a non-working dairy farm. It was a place where John enjoyed the open space and could work at training his hunting dogs. The big barn on the farm was a thing of beauty.
