Kenneth Rosario McFarland, 81, of West Olive, Michigan, passed away, peacefully, in his sleep, on April 14, 2016, at his winter home in Englewood, Florida. He was born July, 25, 1934, in Newton, Massachusetts to Elmer J. and M. Louise (Landry) McFarland as the third of nine children. He served in the US Navy for four years during the Korean War. His working career was spent as a Union Plumber/Pipefitter until his retirement. Ken (Spanky) loved flying his plane and anything to do with aviation. A close second was riding his Harley which he enjoyed taking on road trips with his friends. He leaves behind his children, Sheryl Taber, of Englewood, FL, James (Kathy) McFarland, of Holland, MI, Sara McFarland, of West Olive, MI, Thomas (Elena) McFarland, of Holland, MI, son-in-law, David Owsiak, of Allendale, MI, his sisters, Janet Westberg, of MA, Carol Curtiss, of PA, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys (McCann), his life partner, Joyce Copeland, his daughter Karen Owsiak, four sisters, Mary, Ruth, Audrey and Elizabeth and two brothers, Robert and Allen. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and friends with details to be posted on Facebook.
