Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Russell Vanderberg
April 11th, 2016
An amazing man, father and friend named Russell Lloyd Vanderberg left us to be with the Lord on Monday, April 11, 2016 at his home in North Port, Florida, after a long battle with Cancer. Born in Little Falls, New Jersey on October 29, 1934, Russell was 81 years old at the time of his death. He was the son of Joseph and Hazel Vanderberg (deceased) and a brother to James Vanderberg (deceased). Russell (Russ) was married to Lorraine (Cobianchi) Vanderberg (deceased) for 55 years. Childhood friends say it was love at first sight for Russ when he saw Lorraine and he was destined to win her heart. It was love story that stood the test of time and produced two, adoring daughters, Denise Vanderberg Courtney married to Jason W. Courtney and Lisa Vanderberg Ippoliti, married to John P. Ippoliti. He is also survived by his grandson, Robert E. Miller, III and his wife, Heather Miller, along with his great-granddaughter, Saylor Mae Miller and step grandson Timothy J. Courtney. Lastly, Russ is survived by his loving pet, Coco. Russell spent 25 years working for the West Paterson Police Department starting as a patrolman before retiring at the ranking of Captain. He was well known in his community as a hard-working, family man who put his wife and children first. He thoroughly believed in doing the right thing and instilled those high ethical standards into his daughters. Prior to working as a Police Officer, Russell worked for Singer-Kearfott and Eastern Airlines. He was also an Army Reservist. Services will be held on Friday, April 15th at 10:00 a.m. at the Murdock Baptist Church, Student Center Bldg., 18375 Cochran Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL (near the Town Center Mall). The Student Center Bldg. is located on the corner next to the new Church Bldg. In lieu of flowers, Russell has asked for people to donate to ASPCA to Help Protect Animals from Cruelty at www.ASPCA.org/donate.
