Cortis Charles Hobbs

Cortis Charles Hobbs, 88, of Venice, FL passed away February 12, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living in Venice. Cortis was born October 18, 1927 in Ellenburg Center, NY to Irene (Labare) and Ralph Beman Hobbs. Cortis retired from General Electric as a Safety Technician at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. He served in the US Army in Active Duty in Occupied Japan 1-3-49 through 2-16-50 and then in Korea 10-17-50 through 10-24-51. He also served in the US Army Reserves from 1950-1955. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gail J. Nedvidek in 1987. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Patricia Lou Hobbs; children: Patricia Apa (James), Bonnie Lynn Hobbs-Jensen (Joseph), Gary C. Hobbs (Carol), Alan B. Howard (Sheryl), Deborah A. Sears (Allen); grandchildren: Jared, Danica and Laurie Apa, Kaitlyn Demers (David), Alexander and Benjamin Hobbs, Andrew and Peter Nedvidek and Alicia Ray (Joshua), Teri Sears (Barry), David A. Sears (Rachel), Robert A. Sears (Angela) and Brian A. Sears; great grandchildren: Morgan and Brady Sears, Tyler and Lauren Sears, Olivia Gail Ray. Services are private. Memorial Donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
