Jerry W. Boyer
July 19th, 1946 - December 20th, 2015
Jerry W. Boyer, a former senior HVAC mechanic at the Linthicum location of defense contractor, Northrop Grumman, died early Sunday morning of complications due to Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) at the Tidewell Hospice House in Venice, FL.Born in Winston-Salem, NC, he was the son of James Robert Boyer and Ruby Hedrick Boyer. After he graduated in 1966 from North Forsyth High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and served an 18-month tour in Viet Nam. Mr. Boyer relocated to Maryland to work at Westinghouse, which later was purchased by Northrop Grumman. He worked there for 33 years and retired in July 2011. Mr. Boyer will be cremated and buried with his parents in Winston-Salem, NC. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at the Elks Lodge on Stevenson Road, Severn, MD at 1:00PM. A future memorial service will also be planned for those in the Winston-Salem, NC area. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Mr. Boyer’s name. In addition to his wife, Karen L. Boyer, survivors include his sons, Eric B. Boyer and Jason W. Boyer, their wives, Suzanne L. Boyer and Tabatha Boyer, step-daughter, Kristyn E. Nemethvargo and fiancé, James Vaughan, and 5 grand-children, Taylor Boyer, Matthew Boyer, Ivory Boyer, Gene Humphreys and Liam Vaughan. In addition, Mr. Boyer is survived by a brother, James Boyer, sister-in-law, Joyce Boyer, sister, Jane Calloway, and brother-in-law, J.C. Calloway, who all reside in North Carolina.
