Eugene P. ""Gene"" Holmes, 87, of Venice, formerly of Troy, NY and Westford, MA, passed away October 30, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Gene and Madeline loved to travel with their family to national parks in the western US. In particular, Yellowstone Park was Gene's favorite and they often invited family and friends to meet there in the summer. Gene liked Old Faithful Lodge and Roosevelt Lodge and loved playing cards with the grandchildren. Gene is survived by Madeline, his wife of 61 years, children Philip A. (Barbara) Holmes of Denver, CO, Patrick A. (Sue) Holmes of Idaho Falls, ID, Paula A. (Eric) Jamison of Pepperell, MA, & Pamela A. (David) Holmes Wilcox of Tampa, FL, and grandchildren Christa, Rebecca, Andrew, Elizabeth, William, Laura, Grace, & Martha. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00pm on Tuesday, November 3rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Epiphany Cathedral on Wednesday, November 4th at 10:00am. Gene will be laid to rest with military honors in Sarasota National Cemetery.
