Tommy G. McIntyre
July 7th, 1936 - October 2nd, 2015
Tommy McIntyre, 79, died October 2nd of complications after a long bout with cancer. He will be remembered in Venice for his award winning feature articles as a staff writer for the Venice Gondolier and for his service to the community. Tommy was born in Southfield, MI, attended college at Michigan State University, and had a varied career as a published author, investigative reporter for AP, and a television station where he was awarded a Peabody for his reporting of the Detroit riots and a popular radio talk show host in Detroit, Michigan. At age 57 he went through the Police Academy and spent 5 years in law enforcement before moving to Venice in 1998 where he continued his writing for the Gondolier Sun Papers. He is survived by his loving wife Sherrey Welch of Venice, his two daughters; Lesley and Kara; his son Kevin; his brother William; granddaughter, Stephanie DuBerry (Adam) and great grandson, Parker. The family will honor Tommy's wishes with a private Celebration of Life. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation or the charity of your choice. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
