Carolyn Ann Palo (nee Adams) died peacefully in Venice, Florida, on September 9, 2015, at the age of 70. Carol is survived by her husband, Nicholas Palo of Venice, Florida; daughter, Cindy Kay Seiler Skufca of North Richland Hills, Texas; granddaughter, Taylor Skufca, of North Richland Hills, Texas; brother, Stephen Adams, of Springfield, Virginia; aunt, Hazel McPhail May of San Antonio, Texas; cousins Betty Gower and Rosemary Philmon of San Antonio, Texas, and Dixie Newhouse and Linda Gray of Conroe, Texas; nephews Samuel Barret Adams of Denver, Colorado, and Gareth Adams of Springfield, Virginia; and niece Elysse Adams of Bandon, Oregon. She is preceded in death by her father, John WIlliam Adams and mother Meriam Nell McPhail Adams of West Monroe, Louisiana. Carol was born on September 24, 1944, in Baskin, Louisiana. In her youth, she was a member of McGuire United Methodist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana. She graduated from West Monroe High School in 1962 and from Northeast Louisiana State University with Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education . After leaving West Monroe, Louisiana, she lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Little Rock, Arkansas; Kansas City, Kansas, Denver, Colorado; St. Louis, Missouri; Columbia, Missouri; and Booneville, Missouri, before retiring first to Punta Gorda, Florida, and afterwards, to Venice, Florida. After graduating from Northeast Louisiana University in 1966, she worked for the Monroe, Louisiana Public School system and the University of Missouri (1980-2010). Carol was a passionate individual who had a life-long love of animals, and supported the Charlotte County Big Band. She was committed to community service and most recently served as a regular volunteer at the Punta Gorda Public Library. Her family remembers the resilience and strength she demonstrated in her recovery from breast cancer and heart disease. In accordance with her wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be scheduled; however, a wake will be planned at a later date for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your favorite pet shelter or rescue.
