Barbara Burcham Brown

Barbara Burcham Brown, 79, of Venice, FL passed away June 26, 2015. Barbara was born May 11, 1936 in St. Louis, MO to Blanche (Motley) and Joseph Burcham. She and Bruce moved to Florida almost 20 years ago, and affectionately made this their home. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Venice, an active member at the YMCA, she loved to play bridge, and was a volunteer at the Venice Library. She was known for her love of people, making many friends wherever she found herself. She always made people feel welcome. She retired as activity director for the Mary J. Drexel Home in Philadelphia, PA. For the past few years she was a resident of Venetian Gardens, and loved all of the people there. Barbara and her husband loved to travel, visiting just about every continent in the world. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bruce Brown in 2010. Barbara is survived by her sons Scott (Ruth) of Columbus, OH and Jeffrey (Cheryl) of Columbus, OH, daughter Katherine (Kieran) Sherry of Columbus, OH, precious grandchildren Abigail, Alexander, Zachary, Amanda, Erika, Kaitlin, Kevin, and Conor, great grandchildren Tristen, Stella, and Silas, and sister-in-law Susan Horton of Arlington, TX. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, June 30th at Christ United Methodist Church. Memorial Donations may be made to the church in Barbara's memory.
