Donald I. Briggs, age 81, of North Port, FL passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015. Donald was born December 21, 1933 in Port Leyden, NY to Irving and Clieste (Burgy) Briggs. He served in the US Army and spent most of his life in Verona, NY before moving to Florida in 1992. He was a life member of the Verona, NY Fire Department. Don played in several softball leagues in Charlotte and Sarasota Counties. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary (nee O'Brien); children Tim (Mary) of Estero, FL, Pam Curro (Jon) of Oneida, NY, Joe (Dawn) of East Hampton, MA, and Chuck (Veronica) of Wellington, FL; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his son Michael in January 2010. Visitation will be at Farley Funeral Home, North Port Chapel, on Monday, June 1st, from 3 - 6 PM. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 2nd. Memorial donations can be made to San Pedro Catholic Church Youth Ministry.
