Erwin Williams
July 15th, 1923 - April 8th, 2015
Erwin R. Williams, 92, of Venice, FL, formerly of East Greenbush, NY passed away April 8, 2015. Erwin was born July 15, 1923 in Yonkers, NY to Mildred Gentle (Erwin) and Clarence L. Williams. He was a Locomotive Engineer for N.Y. Central, Penn Central and ConRail. Erwin was a member of the National Association of Veteran Railway Employees, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen. Erwin was a WWII Veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps, 4th Marine Division serving in the Asiatic Pacific Area from January 1944 to November 1945. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Williams and daughter, Karen Holroyd. Survivors include his two grandsons: Chris (wife, Kathleen) Holroyd of Bristow, VA and Jeffery Holroyd of Virginia Beach, VA; four great grandchildren: Kevin, Julia, Braden and Trevor Holroyd; son-in-law, John Holroyd of Mechanicsville, VA; niece and nephews, children of John and Lenore Phelan. A Graveside Service will be held at 9:30 AM, Monday, April 13 at Venice Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or NMCRS Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Attn: Development, 875 N. Randolph St. Ste 225, Arlington, VA 22203.
