Joseph Andrew ""Joe"" Villegan, 89, of Venice, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2015. Joe was the only child of Andrew and Frances (Snapko) Villegan, born on May 27, 1925 in Indiana Harbor, IN. Raised in the region, he graduated from Bishop Knoll High School in Hammond, IN, followed by enrollment in the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corp (NROTC) that involved academic education in Naval Science at the Massachusetts Institute for Technology (MIT), then assignment at a naval base in San Diego, CA, working on the secretly developed radar technology before and during WWII with assignment of air patrol of the California coastline. He later attended Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, earning a BS degree in Zoology. Joe retired from a 37 year career as a General Agent for Allstate Insurance, winning many awards and achievements as well as being known for being sincere and trustworthy. He is survived by his wife of more than 65 years, Carroll; four children, Joseph Andrew ""Drew"" Villegan, Jr. (life partner Dana), Kimerly B. Villegan, O.D,(husband Mike), Lynn C. Roemke, Laurie A. Terrell (husband Rich); four grandchildren including, Guenevere Villegan, Andrew ""Cass"" Cassidy Villegan, and Nicole Roemke. In addition, he has five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Please join us at 1 pm on Sunday, April 12, at the Waterford Sports Club, Venice, FL, for a celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Loveland Center, Venice, FL.
