Barry Nelson Behn

Barry Nelson Behn, 74, of Venice, FL passed away November 12, 2014. Barry was born September 12, 1940 in Glen Ridge, NJ to Dorothea (Nelson) and Robert Behn. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved son Adam. Survivors include his cherished wife of 52 years, Diana; children: Eric and his wife Elise Behn of Oak Ridge, NJ, Sarah and her husband Timothy McGahan of Foxboro, MA; grandchildren Barry Nelson Behn II, Jack, Joey, Teddy and Gracie McGahan. He is also survived by his brother Dante Balestracci and his wife Jude of Wareham, MA, his sister Karen and her husband Richard LeBlanc of Venice, FL, his brother Robert Behn Jr and his wife Barbara of Perkasie, PA, and his sister-in-law Debbie Maguire and her husband Liam of Falmouth, MA. Barry graduated from Fairhaven HS and then Brown University in 1962. He was in sales most of his life and was Vice President of Brodie Inc. and Vice President of Peabody Company in Boston MA. He also ran 3 family owned businesses in MA and in his retirement was the Executive Director of Harwich Chamber of Commerce. Barry was a member of the Foxboro Jaycees with whom he had a lifelong affinity and held the prestigious title of President, Keyman and Jaycee I Senator. He also was president of the Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Pageant for several years, and then decided to spend more time coaching his children in youth sports such as Little League Baseball, CYO Basketball and Foxboro Middle School girls âbasketball. He loved tennis and golf, and played mostly every day in his Waterford Community of Venice which he affectionately called ""paradise"". Visitation will be from 4-6 PM, Friday, November 14 at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. Burial will be in Rockhill Cemetery in Foxboro, MA. Barry would be honored, if in lieu of flowers, donations were made to the Adam Mark Behn Scholarship Fund at: Foxboro Federal Savings, One Central Street, Post Office Box 373, Foxboro, MA 02035-9912.
