Robert A. DePew, age 76, of Bradenton, FL died on September 13, 2014. He was born in Staten Island, NY on March 4, 1938. Bob retired from New York Fire Department after 20 years of service. While living in New Jersey before moving to Florida, Bob was a member of the Lebanon Township Volunteer Fire Department. Moving to Englewood, FL in 1980 Bob continued in his firefighting career by becoming a member of the Englewood Fire Department until his retirement in 1996. While a member of the Englewood Fire Department Bob organized the Toys for Tots program. He was also a 40 year veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve Construction Battalion (Seabees) and a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #381 on Staten Island, NY. Survivors include his wife Janet DePew of Bradenton, Fl; son Douglas DePew of Bradenton, FL; grandson, Derek DePew of Bradenton, FL; brother Arthur DePew of Whitestone, NY; nephew Alexander DePew of NY; and niece Christina Mandery of NY. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18th from 5 - 7 pm at Farley Funeral Home Venice Chapel with a Funeral Service beginning at 7 PM. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34238.
