Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Eleni S. Papanastasis
March 4th, 1946 - August 12th, 2014
Eleni S. Papanastasis, also known as Lenyo, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 68 years old and had been fighting a long battle against lung cancer. Eleni, the youngest child of the late Emanuel and Chrysanthy Boniatis, was born on March 4, 1946 and was raised in Soroni on the Greek island of Rhodes with her siblings Maritsa Tomazos, and the late Despina Koulombrakis and Nikola Boniatis. Eleni was passionate about cooking, both in her restaurants and also for her family. Those who knew her would describe her as a kindhearted, loving, funny, and strong-willed woman. Eleni is survived by Savvas Papanastasis, her husband of 50 years; her sister, Maritsa Tomazos; her three daughters, Chrisa Tsaoussis, Miranda Martins, and Lucy Limantzakis; her son-in-laws, Peter Tsaoussis, Gabriel Martins, and Johnny Limantzakis; and her grandchildren, Angelena, Ariana, Demetri, Melina, and John. A Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Friday, August 15 at St. Barbara's Greek Orthodox Church in Sarasota. Funeral Service will be held 11AM, Saturday, August 16 at the church followed by burial at Venice Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be made to St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church in her memory. Eleni will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by everyone who knew her.
