Corwin Gabbert was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lee was a Navy Veteran and served as a medical corpsman on an airplane carrier. He was married to Doris (Burgess) for 64 years and raised his family in Warren, Michigan and Westerville, Ohio. Lee retired from New York-based Continental Insurance Company after 24 years of service. During their many travels, he and Doris twice called Venice, Florida their home. They returned from Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, in October 2012. Lee is survived by his wife Doris, daughter Lynda and son-in-law John Cassan of Venice; son Michael Gabbert and wife Susan of Punta Gorda, and son Jeffrey Gabbert of Tennessee. He has five grandchildren, Paul, Richard, Tracey, Gina, and Max, plus five great grandchildren. Military Honors will be presented at 9:30 AM, Monday, September 1st at Sarasota National Cemetery, where Lee will be laid to rest. In honor of his life and remembrance of his example, Lee's family asks that you share a kind word and act with compassion for one another, whether family, friend or stranger.
