Helga Anna Swat, 83, of Nokomis, FL passed away May 10, 2014. Helga was born May 14, 1930 in Koenigsberg, Germany to Berta Amalia (Gemp) and Fredrick Franz Laskowsky. She had so many interests in life. First and foremost was her husband and children. She was a very loving and giving woman, wife, mother and Omi. Knitting was a great passion and you could always see that in the numerous sweaters she and Ewald would wear. She was a child of the war in Germany and learned how to milk a cow, had to forge for eggs to sell to put cardboard in her shoes, she found yarn and knit socks with bicycle spokes. She loved her church and faith and enjoyed attending the Salvation Army. A seamtress, a knitter, a fisherwoman, a boater, great cook, great housekeeper and a great mom. She is survived by her daughter Barbel ""Bobbie"" and grandson Eric, along with great granddaughter Samantha; Her son Dennis, daughter in law, Jeanine and grandsons Gregory, Matthew and Jeffrey and a great granddaughter Nevaeh. She has 2 sisters and a brother in Germany. Her brother Peter Laskowsky followed her in passing on Sunday, May 11th. He will be remembered at the memorial service also. A Memorial Service will be held at 5 PM, Tuesday, May 27 at the Salvation Army in Venice.
