David Lee Bixler, 75, of Venice, formerly of Westerly, RI passed away March 21, 2014 after a long illness. Mr. Bixler served his country in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman and medic. He was passionate about trees, working as an arborist and owned his own tree business in Rhode Island for 40 years. He also loved to write stories and share them at the weekly meetings of his writing club. Preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Esther Bixler, David is survived by Paulette, his loving wife of 48 years, children Catherine Banks of Cranston, RI, Emily (Drew) Comeau of Middletown, CT, Jonathan Bixler of Orlando, FL, and Nathan Bixler of Folsom, CA, grandchildren Amber, Ashley, Rachel, Sam, Molly, Chloe, and Oliver, brother Jack Bixler of Pawley's Island, SC, and sister Marylou Boyer of Port St. Lucie, FL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 28th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice. Inurnment will take place later in Rhode Island.
