Jerome L. Thompson, age 61, of Venice, Florida and formerly of Canton, Ohio, passed away on January 11, 2014. He was born on June 19, 1952 in Dennison, Ohio. He was a retired police officer with the City of Canton Police Department. After his retirement he moved to Venice in 2002. Jerome was a member of Epiphany Cathedral, Knights of Columbus, Wm. McKinley Lodge #431 F. &A.M. in Canton, Ohio, R.C. Flying Club of Venice and also the Venice Orchid Society. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Katherine; two sons, Christopher of Alaska, Jason of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Sarah Thompson of Sarasota, Florida; his father, Jerry Thompson of Bowerston, Ohio; his mother, Vivian Thompson of Canton, Ohio; a grandmother, Helen Thompson of Canton, Ohio; a brother, Jeffery Thompson of Maryland and two sisters, Jennifer Woit of Salem, Ohio and Joyce Veppert of Mogodore, Ohio. He also leaves behind three loving grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Services and burial will be held at a later date in Ohio.
