Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Joseph John O'Brien, III
November 15th, 1947 - December 24th, 2013
It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph John ""Joe"" O'Brien III, age 66, announces his passing on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in Venice, Florida. He was born in Buffalo, New York on November 15, 1947. Joe was preceded in death by his devoted parents Joseph John O'Brien II and Sonia Rose (Metzger) O'Brien. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters and brothers: Kathleen (Donald) Wells, Michael (Peggy) O’Brien, Roseanne (Michael) Wells, Patricia (Jack) Argetsinger, Sonia (Patrick) Zoeller, Alfred (Barb) O’Brien, Lisa (John) Hogenmiller, Elizabeth (Michael) Langevin, Jonathan O’Brien and Benjamin O'Brien; Uncle Joe to twenty-nine nieces and nephews; and seventeen great nieces and nephews. Joe lived life his way! He had an adventurous spirit! He started traveling at age 16 when he hitchhiked alone across the United States, after that he never stopped exploring the world. He loved family, friends, everything Irish, warm weather, sitting by the ocean, hot sauce, and wearing his favorite Panama Jack hat! Joe's final days were spent with family doing what he loved most, boating, telling stories, singing songs with his nephew and namesake, Joseph, and talking about the Lord. Although his life was cut short, he was able to live it to the fullest, savoring and cherishing every moment. Now God has him in His keeping and we have him in our hearts. We will forever cherish memories of our brother, Joe! A memorial gathering in Springville, New York is pending and will be announced at a later date. There will be an informal memorial gathering at the South Jetty in Venice, Florida at 1:00pm on January 5.
