William M. Hamilton, age 83, of Venice, Florida, passed away on October 7, 2013. He was born on April 14, 1930 in Alger, Michigan. Bill graduated from Michigan State with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in 1954 where upon graduation he was employed by Sherwin Williams as the Personnel Director in Cleveland, Ohio and then moved to Venice in 1964 where he joined his brother, Bob, in Florida in the home building business. In 1977 Bill started William M. Hamilton Homes, Inc. and Bill Hamilton Real Estate which he ran until his retirement. Bill had a great love of boating and became the Commodore of the Venice Yacht Club in 1989. He was a Mason, Shriner and an Elk. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lena; a son, William (Nancy) Hamilton of Zeeland, Michigan; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nephews and one niece. Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy; two brothers, Robert & Ralph Hamilton and a sister, Erma Hamilton. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Farley Funeral Home in Venice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to TideWell Hospice, Inc., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
