He was born in Lahti, Finland on September 19, 1927. Urpo moved from Finland to Levittown, PA in 1952, and then to Venice 17 years ago. He worked as a carpenter in the Philadelphia area until his retirement. Urpo embraced technology and music. One of his favorite TV shows was “How it’s Made”. He loved following the stock market and current events in the news. At home, he was a great cook and he especially enjoyed making bread. Surviving family members include his son, David of Philadelphia, daughters Susan and husband David Macrae of Nokomis, and Judy Uosikkinen of Venice; grandchildren Sarah Macrae, Allison and husband Ryan Scibelli, Max Silverstein, Kate Silverstein, Samuel Uosikkinen; great grandchildren Jackson and Elia Scibelli; and sister Anja Terho of Kerava, Finland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leah and his sister Raija. A memorial service will be held at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel, on Wednesday, May 8th at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name can be made to the Rotary Futures Scholarship fund at Venice High School.
