March 15th, 1925 - July 20th, 2012
Gloria C. Carlson, age 87, of Venice, FL, formerly of Cotuit, MA, and Jupiter, FL passed away on July 20, 2012. She was born in Quincy, MA, graduated from North Quincy High and Boston University Business School. Gloria and her husband Ernest owned Montague-Brown Co, located in Quincy, Plymouth, and Fall River, MA. Gloria and her husband travelled around the world on the Queen Elizabeth II. They enjoyed long lasting friendships and made many wonderful memories. Gloria extensively chronicled all of her trips in picture albums with written diaries. She was active in the Union Congregational Church of Weymouth and Braintree, MA, and in many local clubs and charities. She volunteered at local hospitals and art museums. She passed along her love of the arts and music to her children and grandchildren. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband and dancing partner of 56 years, Ernest T. Carlson. She is survived by her daughter Diana Lawson and husband James of Venice, FL; son Ted Carlson and wife Eileen of Weymouth, MA, and son Eric Carlson and wife Kathy of Kingston, MA; 8 grandchildren, Michael and Daniel Hacket, Christine, Ted, Jonathan and Benjamin Carlson, Jessica Rymeski, and Sephanie Rance; 3 great grandchildren McKenzie and Alyssa HAckett and Sean Michael Hackett; and special friend Stanton Sheldon. Gloria loved her family and her life. She lived it with passion, compassion, and style. She will be dearly missed by all those who treasured her as a mother, grandmother, and friend. Nana GG touched many lives. A memorial service will be held in Massachusetts at Old South Union Church, 25 Columbian Street, South Weymouth, MA a 10 AM on September 29th. There will be a reception following the service. Donations in Gloria’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
