View Video Tribute Lela J. Bogen, 98, of Venice, FL, formerly of Columbus, OH, passed away February 24, 2012. Born on July 24, 1913, Mrs. Bogen grew up in a house that was built by her father in New Holland, Ohio. She was loving, kind, giving, and precious, a woman who loved everybody and everything. And she was a lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Lela was also an active member of the Scioto Country Club and the Athletic Club of Columbus, giving hundreds of hours of service over 30 years. She was also an Auxiliary Volunteer at Bon Secours Venice Hospital for many years, earning over 2000 hours. She really enjoyed her duties and made many friends in the process. She also was a volunteer at The Elephant’s Trunk for many years. Lela married the love of her life, Arthur D. Bogen, who was taken too soon in 1996. Lela is survived by her son Andrew of Venice, FL, granddaughters Tracey Starrett of Sarasota, FL & Dr. Chelli Bogen of Venice, FL, former daughter-in-law Mary L. (Bogen) Moyer of Venice, FL, a huge loving family and many friends both in Ohio and Florida, and her great grand dogs, cats, and birds that she was so fond of. Lela’s life will be celebrated 3:30 pm Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church in Venice, FL, with inurnment later in Columbus, Ohio. A very special thank you to the staff of Lukehaven at Village on the Isle for their kind and loving care of our Grammy. In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial contributions be made to the Sarasota Humane Society or the Wildlife Center of Venice.
