Joe K. Ligon
May 12th, 1938 - November 24th, 2011
Joe K. Ligon, DMD of Venice, FL and Volcan, Panama died on November 24, 2011 after a brief but relentless illness. “Dr. Joe” was loved in Venice by his patients for his careful dentistry and giving friendship for 37 years. After his retirement in 2005 he purchased a large tract of land in Panama and realized his dream – living on a mountaintop, growing coffee and enjoying a host of new and unique friends – from indigenous Indians to local professionals and other retirees. He is survived by his wife Merrie of Venice, his son Jeffrey Ligon and wife Page, grandsons Kendall and Karson, daughter Jennifer “Star” Ligon all of Sarasota, as well as a sister, Jean Wells of Hanson, KY, a niece and nephew in Kentucky and adoring aunt and uncle, Nan and Jim Payne of Clearwater. Numerous friends throughout the United States and Panama will miss his ready smile and generous nature.
