Jeannette H. Hinman
March 23rd, 1912 - November 6th, 2011
Jeannette was born March 23, 1912 in Sanford, NY. She graduated from Deposit Central School and earned a teaching certificate from Cortland State College. She began her teaching career in 1930. She taught in Harpursville, Farnham, Sanitary Springs, and Windsor, New York through 1942. At that time she began working at the Remington Rand Defense Plant in Binghamton, NY and continued her employment there through out World War II as an inspector of war plane gyroscopes. Jeannette married Edgar F. Hinman in Deposit, NY on October 14, 1945. Edgar was an Army veteran of World War II fighting in the conflicts in North Africa and Italy. They moved to Romulus, NY, Edgar’s hometown. After the birth of her 2 children, James Hinman and Cynthia Hinman – Cosola, Jeannette resumed teaching in 1954 at the Romulus Central School. She taught first and second grades there for the next 20 years, retiring in 1974. Edgar and Jeannette became “snowbirds” to Florida with the purchase of their home in the Spanish Lakes Park in Nokomis, FL. They enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, and many activities with their numerous friends at Spanish Lakes. Jeannette was a member of the NYS Fayette Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, NYS Retired Teachers’ Association, and Romulus Presbyterian Church. Edgar predeceased Jeannette on August 4, 1998. Jeannette is survived by her beloved children, James Hinman and Cynthia Hinman-Cosola, their spouses, Diana Hinman, and Peter Hinman-Cosola, her adored grandchildren, Jamie Hinman, Jeffrey Hinman, Jeremy Hinman, and Jennifer Hinman, and her two great grandchildren, Bradley and Grace Hinman.
