Kenneth E. Metcalf, 66, of Venice, FL and Lafayette, IN died at home on September 27, 2011 after a 16 month battle with lung cancer. He was born May 25, 1945 in Hinsdale, Illinois of the late Howard and Evelyn Guard Metcalf. He moved to Lafayette as a young child and graduated from Jefferson High School and Purdue University. He served in the Army from 1967 to 1973 and was a Vietnam veteran earning a bronze star. On July 14, 1973 he married Jane Gradwohl in Lima, Ohio and she survives in Florida. Mr. Metcalf owned several businesses in White County and loved the art of the deal. He was a life member and past commander of the VFW, American Legion, and the Moose. He was a man of integrity and loyalty and took great pleasure in his family and friends. He enjoyed golf with friends and socializing at the 19th hole. Surviving with his wife are his daughter Megan (husband Carlos) of Venice, FL and son Brian (wife Julia) of Peoria, IL. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Daniel Verdoni and Ellesyn Metcalf, a sister Sandra Albregts, and his two favorite cousins, Gary and Bob. His brother Fred preceded him in death. Ken greatly appreciated all the prayers, thoughts, and cards that were sent to him during his illness.
