Robert “Bob” Martone, 69, of North Port, FL passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Venice Regional Medical Center. Bob was born February 16, 1942 in New Haven, CT to Mary (Picone) and Carmen Martone. He worked for North Penn Transfer as a truck driver for 27 years. In his retirement Bob enjoyed the beach, fishing, gardening, all of nature and his two dogs, Lola and Darla and his grand dogs, Rocco, Peanut, Chloe, Emma, Trace and Jack. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Henry Martone. Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Velma (Sorchiotti) Martone; sons: Robert Martone, Jr. of Clinton, CT and Paul Martone of N.Y.C.; daughter, Michelle Lynn Martone of Essex, CT; granddaughter, Angela Martone of Clinton, CT; brother, Joseph (partner, Jim); sister-in-law, Gladys Martone; brother, Carmen (wife, Pam), brother, Tony (wife, Elaine); sister, Teresa Martone Candido (husband, Guy). He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Louis Sorchiotti and Lawrence Apicella (wife, Patty); 28 nieces and nephews in addition to many cousins and friends. Bob was a man of deep faith and was an inspiration to all who knew him. He made everyone feel like a friend. He always had a smile on his face. Bob will be missed by all who knew him.
