Laura Elizabeth Bry
August 9th, 1921 - May 30th, 2011
Laura Elizabeth Bry, age 89, of Venice, Florida, passed away on May 30, 2011. She was born in Bronx, NY on August 9, 1921. Laura was married in 1943 to Al Bry, who predeceased her in June 2010. Laura moved to Wappingers Falls, NY in 1962 where she was very involved in volunteer work, especially at St. Mary’s Church, Fishkill. In 1979, she and Al retired to Venice. In retirement, Laura loved her flower gardens and was especially proud of the many different varieties of orchids that she grew. She also canned all the vegetables grown in their garden. She was an avid reader and a collector of beach shells. Throughout her life, Laura was dedicated to her family. She was a loving wife to Al and an incredibly giving mother to her five daughters who survive her, Susan (David) Koczur of Ironton, MO, Anne (Alex) Ferguson of Englewood, FL, Laura (Richard) Klinski of North River, NY, Marie Bry of Rhinebeck, NY and Jayne Sickels of Spencerport, NY. She was extremely proud of her 8 grandchildren, Tim (Julie) Koczur of Columbia Falls, MT, Ed Koczur of Ironton, MO, Jennifer (Dan) Moore of Austin, TX, Joshua Klinski of New York, NY, Hailey Fogell of Austin, TX, Daniel Sickels of Brockport, NY, Amber (Yanik) Fournier of Litchfield, NH, and Kristin (Ely) Nicholson of Syracuse, NY. Laura is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, Olivia, Jonathan and Elisabeth Koczur and Evelyn and Penelope Moore. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, FL. Burial will follow the service at 12 noon at Sarasota National VA Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity. Farley Funeral Home in Venice, Florida is handling the arrangements.
