Robert D. Flickinger, age 86, of Venice, FL died on May 5, 2011. He was born in Buffalo, NY on July 3, 1924. Robert was a graduate of Cornell University and a WWII Naval Reserve Officer, Lieutenant JG. He was a cofounder of Service Systems Corporation in Buffalo, retiring in 1983. Robert served as Chairman of the United Way in Western NY in 1964 and as President of the National Restaurant Association in 1972. He was an avid hockey fan and an investor in the Buffalo Sabers Hockey Franchise. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Plantation Golf and Country Club. He is survived by his wife Louise of Venice; daughters Hallie Schneeweiss (David) of Williamsville, NY, JoAnn Patross (Fred Peters) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Greta Barton (John) of Buffalo, NY; and 6 grandchildren, Lindsay, Whitney, and Courtney Patross, and Robert, Carolyn, and Peter Schneeweiss. He was predeceased by his sister Jane Beer.
