July 27th, 1936 - January 29th, 2011
Joe Garza Jr., 74, passed away Saturday night, Jan. 29, 2011 at his home in Port Charlotte, FL. He was born in Penitas, Texas to Jose Maria Garza and Eva Cerda Garza. Joe graduated from La Joya High School in La Joya, TX and attended Pan American University in Edinburg, TX. He proudly served in the United States Army in which he traveled the world at a young age. He retired from The U.S. Department Of Agriculture in Washington, DC after 36 years of service and moved to Port Charlotte, FL in 1995. He will be remembered for his love of going to the gym, riding his bicycles and especially his motorcycle which always brought out a particular joy in him. He was a voracious reader as evidenced by the stacks of books always at his side. He is survived by the love of his life, Nancy, who was his wife of 48 years, and his devoted son, Mark. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lila Ochoa (Lino), and brother-in-law Santos Porras, Jr. He is also survived by his sisters Yolanda Guerrero (Pepe), Telca Porras and his brothers Jose Guadalupe (Imelda), Mario (Ninfa), Homer (Elva), Diego (Sara) and Hector Edelmiro (Gloria), and many nieces and nephews.
