Douglas Bradley Pascoe 1952-2010 Doug died unexpectedly on December 1, 2010 while visiting his mother Caryl Duffy, in Venice, Florida. Doug was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is predeceased by his father, Donald Bradley Pascoe and Uncle, Duane L. Thorpe. He is survived by his daughter, Emelie Olivia of Middletown, his mother, Caryl (David) Duffy and sisters Cynthia (Michael) Casart of Pensacola, FL and Karen (Michael) Johnson of Leesburg, VA and brothers David of Milford, CT and Don of Chesapeake, VA as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Doug was exceptionally close with all of his family and treasured their relationships. As the son of career sailor and Naval Officer, the Pascoe family moved frequently and Doug attended 13 different schools in 12 years, including Robert E. Fitch High School in Groton, CT. During the summers of his high school years, Doug traveled extensively with the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus where Doug’s uncle, Duane “Uncle Soapy” Thorpe, was a clown for many years. Doug left high school and joined the US Army, serving with the 2nd Calvary Division in Nuremburg, Germany. Following his military service, Doug attended Mohegan Community College and graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University with BA English. Following graduation, he served as a Hospital Administrator at High Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree, California. After returning to Connecticut, he earned his teaching certificate and he became a professional educator, teaching English at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Middletown, CT. He went on to earn a Masters of Education degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. Doug was an incredibly generous man and a free spirit. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved his toys – his guitars, the “Little Red Corvette” and his vintage-style motorcycle. Above all, Doug loved people! He loved his family. His beloved daughter “Emma” was the apple of his eye and he was quick to show pictures and tell stories of her to anyone with a few moments to listen. Duppy, his “Service Animal,” was Doug’s constant companion. His family, friends, colleagues and students always knew above all, Doug was always there whenever, and for whatever, they needed. He will be sincerely missed by all.
