Joseph D. Kauchak, age 75, of North Port, Florida, formerly of Highland, Indiana, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nina; three children: David (Michelle) Kauchak of Lakewood, CO, Nancy (George) Evans of North Port, FL, and Denis (Judy) Kauchak of Chesterton, IN; two grandchildren: Morgan and Mitchell Evans; five brothers: Bud (late June) Kauchak, George (JoAnne) Kauchak, Jerry (Maureen) Kauchak, Pat (Barb) Kauchak, John (Libby) Kauchak; two sisters: Evelyn (late Frank) Haas, Kitty (Dick) Thompson; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Evelyn Kauchak; four sisters: Marion Kovacik, Loretta Daffron, Myrna Samms, Francis Kauchak; one brother, Bill Kauchak. Joe was a retiree of the Lever Bros. Co., Hammond, IN, with 26 years of service. He was also retired from Amoco Oil Co., Whiting, IN, with 15 years of service. He was a 1952 graduate of Hanna High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion, Whiting, IN. The family will be having a private memorial gathering to celebrate his life. To the world, he was just one, To us, he was all the world.
