Henry E. Reynolds

Henry E. Reynolds, 89, a long time resident of Manchester, VT, and a seasonal resident of Naples, FL, passed away on September 18, 2010. Henry was born in Pikesville, Maryland on February 15, 1921 to Clarence and Anita (Easter) Reynolds and raised in Ogunquit, Maine. Henry graduated high school from the Gunnery Private School in Washington, Connecticut. Henry enlisted in the US Army in 1942 with the Second Amphibious Engineers Special Brigade. Stationed off the Coast of New Guinea, Henry was severely wounded in 1944 causing the loss of his eye sight. Henry was later awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and dedication. Henry was married September 8, 1944 to Berniece Butterfield of Chester, Vermont at the Valley Forge Army Hospital Chapel in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Henry and Berniece settled in Manchester Village, Vermont on the West Road. Henry developed a thriving business after rehabilitation, mastering the ancient craft of weaving and opening up Colonial Crafts in Manchester Village, Vermont. Henry was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Berniece (Butterfield) Reynolds, his eldest son, Henry Reynolds, Jr., his parents, and three siblings. Henry is survived by his youngest son Jonathan (Jill) Reynolds of Venice, FL; three grandchildren, Jessica (Casey) McHale of Newbury, MA, Marissa and Amanda Reynolds of Saratoga Springs, NY; and two great grandchildren, Quentin McHale and Kylie Reynolds.
