Richard M. Serkland, 101, of Venice, Florida died Friday December 18, 2009. Mr. Serkland was born October 31, 1908 in St. James, Minnesota to Carl and Mary (Larson) Serkland. He was owner and manager of a Grain Products Company in St. James, Minnesota for 50 years before retiring in 1968. He moved to Venice in 1978 from St. James. He was Past President of North West Agri-Dealers Association; Past Director of Grain and Feed Dealer National Association; Past Member National Feed Committee, Past Chairman of Watonwan Memorial Hospital Board and Past President of St. James Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Venice. He is survived by his 2 sons, Richard C. Serkland of Alpine, Texas and John P. Serkland of Edmonds, Washington; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Private memorial services will be held. To send condolences visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com.
